Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble "The Passaron"

Since 2012, the Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble “The Passaron” has been an officially recognized non-profit Association. It is composed primarily of graduates, students, and enthusiasts of classical guitar, as well as other musicians and individuals passionate about music and culture—most of whom reside in the wider region of Ioannina. The Association’s mission is to provide its members with opportunities for musical collaboration, while also contributing to their overall musical and intellectual cultivation.

The Ensemble has participated in over 100 concerts and cultural events in Greece, as well as internationally, including appearances in Bulgaria and Poland (as part of an Erasmus+ project), and in Costa Rica—in collaboration with the University of Costa Rica and Calasanz College, under the auspices and with the support of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture.

The Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble is open to collaborations, both with individual musicians and other musical groups from around the world, with the aim of contributing to the study, development, preparation, and presentation of musical ideas, while offering all participants the joy of musical cooperation and the exchange of perspectives.

About Rodotopi village

The village of Rodotopi

Rodotopi is the name of a small village of about 1100 inhabitants located 10 km from the city of Ioannina (Epirus, north-western Greece). The village of Rodotopi is one of the oldest in the region. Ιn 1319 AD, in an official document of the Byzantine Emperor Andronicus II, the village is mentioned with the name Rodotov. Also, archaeological studies suggest that the region of Rodotopi is associated with the ancient Passaron, the capital of Molossus, since there are many ancient ruins there (e.g. marble inscription in the village cemetery, the temple of Zeus, statues, coins, etc). Furthermore, Alexander the Great had lived in this area for some time during his childhood (4th century BC) because Passaron was the city of his mother Olympias.

About the building that houses the guitar ensemble

This building is one of the oldest in Rodotopi. It was constructed during the Turkish occupation and it was the headquarters of the local Turkish governor. After liberation in 1913, it was used as a primary school until the 1980's. During the 1970's the character of the building altered by adding a newer part as an extension of the old, with a view to ensure greater space for the needs of the primary school. In reality, this goal has not been achieved being that the primary school moved to another new building built in a separate area. In the extension of the building (newer part) a nursary school has been operating since the 1990's. The old stone part of the building houses the Senior Citizen Center (ground floor) and recently the association "Rodotopi Guitar Ensemble - The Passaron - Ioannina, Greece" (first floor).

Πρόσκληση του Συνόλου μας στην Κοζάνη

Το Κιθαριστικό Σύνολο Ροδοτοπίου, μετά από πρόσκληση του Δημοτικού Ωδείου Κοζάνης, θα ταξιδέψει στην Κοζάνη το Σάββατο 29 Μαρτίου 2014, προκειμένου να πάρει μέρος με μουσικό πρόγραμμα στην Πανελλήνια Συνάντηση Συνόλων Κιθάρας.

Με την ευκαιρία αυτής της εκδήλωσης, το Δ.Σ. του συλλόγου μας αποφάσισε να προγραμματίσει εκδρομή με λεωφορείο, στην οποία μπορούν να συμμετέχουν, πέραν των μελών του συνόλου, όσοι άλλοι επιθυμούν.

Την Τετάρτη 4 Σεπτεμβρίου 2013, το Κιθαριστικό Σύνολο Ροδοτοπίου έδωσε συναυλία στο υπαίθριο θέατρο Κληματιάς Ιωαννίνων, την οποία διοργάνωσε ο τοπικός πολιτιστικός σύλλογος.

Αμέσως μετά τη συναυλία

Ο σύλλογος «Κιθαριστικό Σύνολο Ροδοτοπίου Ιωαννίνων – Η Πασσαρών» ανταποκρινόμενος σε πρόσκληση του Δημάρχου και του Πνευματικού Κέντρου Δήμου Βέλινγκραντ Βουλγαρίας «Άγιοι Κύριλλος και Μεθόδιος», πήρε μέρος με μουσικό πρόγραμμά του στις πολιτιστικές εκδηλώσεις “Cultural Vacation” που διοργανώθηκαν στην πόλη τους. Οι Βούλγαροι, αναλαμβάνοντας την πλήρη φιλοξενία των μουσικών του ΚΣΡ στο διάστημα των εκδηλώσεων (από 7 έως 10 Ιουλίου 2013), ενέταξαν στο πολιτιστικό πρόγραμμά τους μια σειρά από συναυλίες και χορευτικές παραστάσεις, στις οποίες συμμετείχαν φορείς από διάφορες χώρες. Επρόκετο για μία πολύ όμορφη διοργάνωση, που συνδύαζε μουσική, χορό και περιήγηση στα αξιοθέατα της ευρύτερης περιοχής του Βέλινγκραντ.

Να σημειωθεί ότι στο ταξίδι του ΚΣΡ στη Βουλγαρία συμμετείχαν τόσο παιδιά-μουσικοί όσο και πολλοί φίλοι του συλλόγου. Στην ουσία, πραγματοποιήθηκε μία εκδρομή ανοιχτή σε κάθε ενδιαφερόμενο, με το συνολικό της αριθμό να ξεπερνά τα 50 άτομα.

Το ΚΣΡ εκφράζει προς το Δήμο Βέλινγκραντ και το Πνευματικό Κέντρο «Άγιοι Κύριλλος και Μεθόδιος» τις θερμές ευχαριστίες του για τη διοργάνωση και τη φιλοξενία.

Στις 22 Δεκεμβρίου 2011, εποχή που το Κιθαριστικό Σύνολο Ροδοτοπίου δεν είχε ακόμη ιδρυθεί επίσημα με τη μορφή συλλόγου, διοργανώθηκε χριστουγεννιάτικη συναυλία για σόλο κιθάρα καθώς και για κιθαριστικό σύνολο, υπό την αιγίδα του Προοδευτικού Συλλόγου Ροδοτοπίου, από την οποία σας παραθέτουμε τις παρακάτω εικόνες.

Στις 13 Ιουλίου 2005 διοργανώθηκε, υπό την αιγίδα του Προοδευτικού Συλλόγου Ροδοτοπίου, συναυλία στο Πάρκο Ηρώων Ροδοτοπίου με:
1) Μαθητικό κουαρτέτο κιθάρας που αποτελούνταν από τα παιδιά: Σταυρούλα Νάκη, Αλέξανδρο Λύτη, Βασιλεία Λωρίδα και Χρυσάνθη Ματσάγκα.
